Contributions by Bill Taylor, and Steve RheaultThanks for a Great RideBy Bill TaylorHello All, Just a quick note of thanks to Vytus, Ann, David and Steve for a great ride this past Saturday. Their's was terrific company on my first brevet. Aside from a cool start to the day and ride, and a 'slightly' bothersome head-wind at times, it was a perfect day for a good long ride. The fall colours were amazing, and the roads were in great shape. I loved the route. Also, a big thanks to Vytus and Colleen for giving me a lift home from the Cheshire Cat. I've no problem confessing that I didn't miss the cooler temperatures, once the sun had set, and the 'wee' speed bump of a hill on the Richardson Side Rd required to get up to get home. So if David is on this list, was the coffee at the local Starbucks any good? Sorry if I appeared to be belaboring that point, once we were back at the Cheshire Cat. How was your trip back to Toronto? Perhaps more importantly, did it take you very long to find your other riding partner, Eli? Trust all's well. Cheers, Bill Merrickville 200By Steve RheaultBill, it was a pleasure riding with you, Vytas and the others. It was so much nicer having a Guinness and steak and kidney pie in a pub after the ride than anything on Tim's menu. Eli maximized his time in the clean rural air and also got to confirm that his lighting system was indeed functional. David struck out on both Starbuck's and Dairy Queen for the ride home but did manage to do his first 200km ride concurrent with his first ever group ride. For Anne it was her first ride on her new Ti steed. I'm looking forward to going back to Ottawa for the Wakefield ride; I heard it has more than one hill. ;-) Steve |
